Sue Illana - Health Safety and Environment Manager - SAGE Automation
Sue’s qualifications include an Ordinary Bachelor of Science degree (University of Adelaide) with Honours in Microbial Genetics (Flinders University of South Australia). She began her career predominantly as a Scientist working in a number of professional positions in laboratories. In her last position in that field, she worked for Red Cross and set up the DNA tissue typing laboratory for bone marrow transplantation.
In 1996 Sue began working as an OH&S Consultant for a private OH&S consulting company, providing a range of OH&S services to both private and government organisations. During that time, the focus of her work was to assist companies in attaining self insurance by completing specific projects, in particular managing risk using the risk management approach.
Sue joined Clipsal Australia in 2006 and was part of the team that succeeded in attaining self insurance and certification to Australian and International standards for OH&S Management Systems (AS/NZS 4801) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
In late 2009, Sue joined SAGE Automation as the HSE Manager. Her role there is to manage, maintain and further develop HSE into an integrated management system to ensure compliance with legislation as well as Australian and International Standards for OH&S and Environment. Currently, her major focus is to fully implement the Integrated Management System and to attain AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14001 certification.
Sue has been an alternate Director of the Technology Industry Association (TIA) since late 2009.
