Topping the night with the winner of the prestigious Gold Cup was Redarc Electronics.

Redarc has developed an in-vehicle battery charger family of products. In the development phase REDARC identified a market need where potential customers including owners of camper trailers, caravans and motor homes, boats, police vehicles and even defence vehicles were being troubled by an inability to gain the security, freedom and flexibility while travelling. Essentially they were unable to fully charge high cost auxiliary batteries when these differed in chemistry from the main battery.

The product integrates REDARC’s multi-chemistry battery charging technology and switch-mode circuitry, with the ability to deliver a very high current. The creation of the new In-vehicle Battery Charger family of products has resulted in the creation of 8 Full Time Employment positions at Redarc.

 2010 TIA Excellence Awards

The Technology Industry Association held its Annual Gala Dinner and Excellence Awards on Friday, October 29 at the Stamford Grand Hotel with around 250 guests in attendance. Sponsored by Legend Corporation.

The event was staged on an Olympic theme to represent the same attributes of determination, persistence, effort and sacrifice achievers in business share with that of an elite athlete. The night opened up with a simulated ‘Opening Ceremony’ with outgoing TIA President, Peter Charlesworth from Minelab Electronics carrying an Olympic Torch to the stage and in a symbolic gesture, passing the reigns to the newly elected President, Alan Thomas from DWS Advanced Business Solutions.

In tune with the Olympic theme, a four time Olympian and legend on the basketball court, Phil Smyth was the special guest speaker. With some entertaining stories of his experiences at the Olympics, Phil reminded all that it’s about hard work and dedication to make it to the top.

The winner of the Prestigous Gold Cup was Maptek Pty Ltd for their Maptek I-Site 8800 Laser Scanner which is their second generation scanner, building on the success of the 4400 Laser Scanner released in 2004. The world class specifications, functionality and ease of use are the major reasons for the success of the Maptek I-Site 8800 in the marketplace. The original idea was to create a Time Of Flight range-finding system that incorporated panoramic imaging, survey grade telescope, levelling sensor and inbuilt battery.  This concept takes into account the requirement of surveyors and other real world users.

CONGRATULATIONS!
