 ELECTRONICS  an 'enabling technology' that provides our communications and entertainment, guards  our  health and safety and facilitates the creativity and  productivity of our community. SA has a very strong electronics sector that specialises in the design and manufacture of defence, communication and instrumentation systems, sensors and medical devices.

ICT  SA's dynamic Information Communications Technology (ICT) is a dynamic sector including companies who maintain computer networks and implement ICT systems, as well as providing hardware sales and service. SA is at the forefront of many areas of ICT, including software development, systems integration, wireless networking, e-commerce, smart cards and computer games. 

DEFENCE  The defence industry supports Australia's Armed Forces by developing technologically advanced systems and equipment prototypes for aircraft, shipbuilding, navigation systems as well as products for planes and submarines.

FACT: Did you know that 72% of Australian defence companies are located in Adelaide? 

DIGITAL MEDIA  Digital Media is the fastest growing technology sector in Australia and indeed the world. Digital media includes traditional media (movies, tv) marketed on and distributed on new media platforms (web, mobile etc) and digitally produced new media such as animation, podcasts, vodcasts, webisodes and simulations.

CLEANTECH: South Australia is leading the country in cutting greenhouse gas emissions in the technology industry. SA's clean technology (aka CleanTech) sector develops technology-based products and services that reduce environmental impacts. SA leads the nation in renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, geothermal and wave power.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS  The SA telecommunications sector has undergone a major transformation in the past 10 years, expanding with an array of providers and mobile and internet services. Telecommunications is the exchange of information over significant distances by electronic means. This industry will play a more significant role in Australia with the development of the National Broadband Network (NBN).
