TIA Awards for Excellence

The Technology Industry Association presents Awards for Excellence each year to individuals and groups in eight categories, as well as to students from the four tertiary institutions which provide training in technology engineering in Adelaide. Awards for Excellence have been presented to the South Australian Electronics Industry since 1984.

 

2009 Excellence Awards and Dinner

The 2009 Gala Dinner and Excellence Awards were held on October 8, 2009 at the Adelaide Hilton, Victoria Square. This event was a glitz and glamour 'Hollywood Style', like being at our own Oscars. High class entertainment featured throughout the evening that added to the excitement of this prestigious event.

The Hollywood theme performances throughout the night provided top class entertainment to the audience showcasing the TIA's awards celebration. The entertainment was supplied by a local Adelaide company 'Essential Talent'.

The winner of the prestigious TIA Gold Cup for Excellence in Engineering and Commercialisation was awarded to REDARC Electronics.  The Gold Cup is the most prestigious TIA award and is given to a company that performs best in taking an innovative idea through product development and onto global markets.

REDARC Electronics won the Gold Cup for their Smart Start battery charging suite of products. Consisting of a choice of four vehicle battery related products, REDARC have completely designed and manufactured the products at their Londsdale based Innovation Centre. Currently working with a French company regarding distribution of Smart Start battery chargers, REDARC aims to tap into the lucrative European motor home market that boasts more than half a million caravan related vehicles.

The TIA Award for Excellence in Innovation. This award will be presented to an individual or project team that in the view of the selection committee has conceived the best innovative product or service submitted and developed it to proof of concept. The TIA President's Award for Best Media Story. This award will be presented to an individual who has provided best media story related to the electronics and/or ICT industry. The winning story will be selected from the TIA collection of articles for the current year. Submissions are not required.

The Student of the Year Awards. These awards are determined by each of the educational institution for excellence in the final year project.
