Introduction to the Technology
Industry Export Project

Our goal is to help you make export sales.

The Technology Industry Export Project (Export Project) commenced in 2005, and plays a central role in the ongoing expansion of a vibrant, world renowned ICT Industry in South Australia.

Upcoming activities include:

During the life of the Project, technology exports increased by 42%, from $656 million pa, to $931 million pa. This is a significant achievement, especially in light of the increasing value of the Australian dollar over that period.

The Export Project

The Export Project is headed up by Christine Cromarty, TIA’s Export Development Executive.

Christine has worked in electronics, defence and ICT during her career of more than 15 years in the technology sector.

Christine is very experienced in the international arena. She worked for two years as an international marketing manager for a global telco. She spent three years in Washington DC, first as a sales manager with one of the world’s leading software companies and later as CEO of her own export consultancy company targeting the US defence and technology markets.

Christine specialises in market entry and growth strategies in Asia and North America, providing services and advice to Australian companies seeking to expand into these regions.

She has built partnerships with companies offering in-country expertise in many regions of the world, including Europe, Asia (particularly China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea), and the Middle East, providing TIA members with global coverage.

She is experienced in growing business in the international market, through the development and implementation of business plans and global sales and marketing strategies.  She brings a track record in commercial collaboration - successfully leading multi-million dollar sales of professional business services, software and hardware solutions and infrastructure to government and large corporate customers.

With strong relationship building and networking skills and an outstanding ability to recognise and build new business opportunities, Christine has the necessary credentials to make a contribution to your company’s growth.   She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.  Last year she completed the UNI SA International Grad School of Business - Business in China Program at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.  She is on a number of committees including mega SA Steering Committee, and the State Committee for AIMIA (Australian Interactive Media Industry Association) and Women of the World.

Christine believes that the global economic crisis has created many opportunities for exports – including a lower Australian dollar making our exports more competitive, and the need for technological solutions which lower business costs and improve efficiency.  The Export Project maintains that diversifying to include export revenue streams will guard against future downturns in the Australian economy.
