Kelly and Co put Parents First

TIA member Kelly and Co says it is offering its staff the longest paid parental leave entitlements amoung the top tier law companies in Australia.

Kelly and Co will offer 16 weeks fully paid leave and where applicable, this would be paid on top of the Federal Government's plan. According to a story published in The Australian in July, other top tier firms offer between 12 and 14 weeks parental leave.

Starting in January, Labour has pledged 18 weeks' paid parental leave, at the minimum was of $543.78.

Kelly and Co Chief Executive Stuart Price said the firm was proud to be family friendly. "We want to keep ahead of the curve by making our workplace as attractive as possible to both existing and future staff. Paid parental leave is an important issue for many graduates and for those already in the profession looking to start a family."

Of Kelly and Co's 120 employees, about 60% are female. Staff qualify for the parental leave entitlements after one year of service. The firm has also doubled its leave entitlement for non primary carers to two weeks.

Kelly and Co partner Jacqueline Ion is pregnant with her second child. She took 12 months' leave to have her first child, Nellie, two and half years ago. "This has also involved IT support to allow me to work form a home when needed." Jacqueline plans to take a year off after having her baby, due in early October.
